Female Scarce Chaser.

A visit out of the county today with Colin to this fantastic fenland reserve,saw us recording a total of 8 species and getting some superb views of our target species,the stunning Scarce Chaser.When we first arrived on site,the weather was far from perfect and it rained on and off for the first few hours,with us getting a bit of a soaking on one occasion,but by late morning it cleared up and we started seeing our first Dragonfly species including our first 3 Scarce Chaser's.These our possibly,our most stunning dragonfly,with the immatures and females literally glowing in the sun,cracking stuff!.We managed to record a total of 18 individuals in the end,pretty good for so early in the season.Other nice sightings comprised of a few Hairy Dragonfly's and several male Red-eyed Damselfly holding territory and my first Variable Damselfly sightings of the year.An excellent day out.
