Male Hairy Dragonfly with prey.
A trip out today to the superb Messingham Sand Quarries again(My second home in the summer months),saw me recording a couple of impressive counts again!.The first, was a personal best record for the reserve of 48 Four-spot Chaser, which included at least 11 in the heathy area, impressive stuff!,to be followed by another impressive count of 46 Hairy Dragonfly. At least 1 pair of Hairy's were seen mating, with at least 4 female's observed today, with several individuals seen with prey, making for some cracking sightings!.There seemed to be a mass explosion of Azure's today also, but i just didn't have time to count everything, but will on my next visit!.A nice couple of hours again.
