A visit this afternoon to Messingham while Trace was at work resulted in good numbers of the larger dragons being seen around the reserve, with the commonest being Brown Hawker of which i logged an impressive 45 insects, this included 26 around 1 corner of the reserve giving superb close views.Other species were represented with the following numbers,1 male Emperor,11 Migrant Hawker,4 Southern Hawker,1 Four-spot Chaser and 8 Common Darter.A good few hours around this cracking dragonfly site.
